netflix and hulu our love affair

how we have a love affair with


the flix?

cause we do.

my professed love for netflix began after college, our wedding and the beginning of our for real life. i realized that i was probably the one person in this whole world that had never watched a full episode of :
-american idol
-oprah
-lost
and basically ANY reality tv show or tv series that ever came out post 2003.

basically i was living under a rock, slaving away writing and grading mind-numbing essays/papers/resolutions/mid-terms and exams. that, and byu was a beast. anyway so once i finally had time to leisurely sit down and relax for once in my life ( we'll call this my SHC days--- where after 8 (+) hours a day of interviewing, filling out paper work and solving all of my students problems) all i wanted to do was come home, cuddle with my marcus and simply sit in comfortable repose. to mute myself and just be entertained.

and so.... a letter to our sweet , tender netflix:

dear netflix,

roses are red. violets are blue. (i always stunk at these) these are the reasons we love you:

• you save us from making cable companies rich and our pockets poor
• you introduced us to LOST and sucked us in for 6 hours straight with your nifty little "next episode" sans commercial button
• although some days we spend over an hour searching for the right movie, your documentary and foreign films options never disappoint
• you've helped me realize i was a fool for sitting through dumb commercials for 18 good years of my life
• you make for great conversation w/ our mail lady
• you've gotten us through our pregnancy and post pregnancy hermit syndrome

that and since we've moved into our own house we're way too cheap to get cable. who needs cable when you've got instant que?!right?! aaaaand i refuse to watch any tv series in current mode. the suspense gives me un-needed anxiety, the commercial time frame reminds me of other things i could be doing, and i personally like to knock out a series in a matter of 1-2 day marathons. finding LOST, 30-rock and the office was like discovering the beauty of toilet paper. bliss. dont get mad, but if we absolutely cant find ANY good flicks, we occasionally have slight rendezvous with

no worries though. the "limited commercial interruptions" drive us bananas. we really only watch modern family and the office there. when all else fails and when we're too inpatient to wait for your new releases, we gravitate towards no worries though. our tiny monthly deposits keep us loyal to you ;)

all in all, thank you for keeping us hip and slightly up to date on pop culture. AND helping me prove to my husband that it is possible to live w/ a tv and no cable.
