i ran across an interesting discovery the other day while discussing a very important subject w/ miss emily lynn.preface: so once while reading her blog i specifically remember her pointing out a very important detail concerning my all time favorite girl scout cookies. they'd changed the name from delicious "samoas" to the not so cool sounding "caramel delites." (i know! you gasped too right?) well i remember distinctly feeling highly disappointed and vocalizing it: "what the?! how could they?! "
well, while in texas for the holidays i went to purchase and experience those caramel delites quite begrudgingly. tore em up none the less and stored away the memory as a "must tell emily experience." a month later, my sweet hubby comes home and all nonchalantly plops this box of deliciousness down on the counter. my 1st inclination was to jump on the kitchen table and tap dance my little heart out in shere joy. the 2nd was : "what the?! Welcome back 'SAMOAS?!' those girl scout peeps have finally seen the error of their ways!"
i immediately texted my wise friend miss emily lynn the following pic with such a heading. I was then relayed a shocking discovery: it's totally a regional thing! same box of delicious goodness is known in utah as Samoas and in texas as Caramel deLites.
yep. truth.
reasoning behind it all you ask?those little Girl Scouts are swift and happen to have two bakers. those two bakers produce their own version of the core cookies, and have slightly different recipes. Carmel Delights (made by ABC bakers) are made with milk chocolate, and Samoas (made by Little Brownie Bakers) are made with dark chocolate. crazy huh?
so here's the real question:
what do you call these delectable bits of heavenly goodness?
