[milk.drunk]
i just had a friend email me this with the statement:
"Not sure if you've seen this, but I think that if anyone's a candidate, you are!"
i chuckled and then read on.
one of only 11 Mother's Milk Banks in the nation?! wow. that's so sad to me. interestingly enough right after giving birth to micah my body went through a series of unprecedented changes--- the most obvious---> my ladies. they were ginormous! and im not overexagerating either. you can ask my mom...and my hubbs.
(and anyone who knew me as i was going through my akward
"developmental/budding" phase in life---i was as flat as a pop-sickle stick---
one day i will post pics as evidence).
anywho-- as a new milk robot...i mean mommy, i was easily producing 40 ounces extra breast milk per day. and that's when i was trying to build up my milk supply. im pretty sure i could have stocked up more.easily. in a day. i then realized my goodness it's like producing GOLD. literally. im a gold-milk producin machine! it's funny from day one of experiencing the great miracle of breastfeeding (which i will and must dedicate an indepth post to later), i have been almost obsessive over the fact that my baby get every single drop left in a bottle, especially when others are feeding him. i can say that i actually fully understand the term : crying over spilt milk. because i have. and i am sooooo grateful that our breastfeeding journey has gone fairly well. i owe so much to the support of my amazing ladies at La Leche League ! -- and the fact that as women we really do know more than we realize. i've learned to toss books aside, take other's almost inevitable "advice" with a grain of salt and mostly: rely on my own intuition and find what's been best for us.
anywho...back to the topic at hand:
after my little guy was here and i saw that my stash of extra mommy's milk slowly taking over my freezer, i researched what some women did with the excess milk and found out that breast milk banks DO EXIST! i began writing everything down but i must say, the idea came while i was breastfeeding, (as is typically when my most thought provoking moments occur mind you)...and then ...micah refused to fall asleep. so that idea stayed in my mental abyss in the compartment of "maybe one day ill do it".
and well , here we are pulling out the thought and highly considering it.

[oh how i adore milk drunk babies] speaking of milk-o-holics
