pregnancy recap

forgive me as i try to document the thousands of moments that have already passed with the little guy.

first off: the pregnancy

i managed to do a great job writing in my belly book details that have now escaped me. maybe one day i will write those down on our more personal blog. in the mean time here is a VERY brief recap:

-
we found out on Monday January 18th, 2010 ( MLK Day) 6 am -ish while getting back on track w/ our P90X workout. it involved a hardcore ab ripper x workout , me almost fainting in the shower, utilizing the very last prego-test , two lines in the affirmative, green puke everywhere, and marcus screaming like a girl in excitement ;)

-what followed was a series of moments that allowed for much growth and love. from weird pregnancy dreams, to sleepless nights tossing and turning adjusting to widening hips, hugging on a series of pillows ( which the mr. just looooved---sike!), being one of six pregnant women at work ( no joke!), as much bike riding as my body would allow (ocho meses baby!), 2 mattresses later, pregnancy brain (it's so real), lots of boiled eggs, plums, peanut butter apple slices, egg and cheese croissants, chocolate milk , coco rice crispy cereal, otter pops and snow cones, huge aversion to peppers, any kind of fish and oh yeah 86 the tuna please! ice, ice and more ice ( not just any either ---i had my special locations staked out) oh and lots and lots of salt, with all the excuse in the world to eat it too!--yes!

-i got sick once throughout the pregnancy and we ghetto rigged this:

yes that's me under the covers, beside the "optimize the humidifier" contraption (aka umbrella over the humidifier and trash bags directing the vapors to my face). note: this was week 12, when i had no idea what i could and couldnt take. after downing hot lemon teas, gargling salt water, sitting in steam bathes and ...oh ! feeling like i was going to die! ps. after the fact: pregnant women CAN take tylenol. fyi.

-we began w/ an OB but then after much research and exploring our options we switched providers and found the perfect place: Bella Natal Birthing Center with Suzanne Smith as our midwife. it suited us and we loved the mentality of the least amount of interventions. a water birth au natural was what we set out to achieve. we knew because we wanted a non-conventional birthing experience, we would have to prepare ourselves, so we researched and sought HYPNOBABIES as our method. we took HYPNOBABIES classes once a week for six weeks with Ms. Lidia Sellers in spanish fork. we surrounded ourselves with like minded individuals and in the end, it was our saving grace!

-we were very private about the pregnancy. mainly, it was me being petrified of miscarrying, so we didn't disclose publicly until i was showing (19 weeks along).

-i took the trip of my dreams to
panama con mi hermosa mami!
for the first time since i was 6 years old i stepped foot on our tierra bella with her. mi madre querida. being 12-13 weeks along at her side was all too beautiful. i had the blessing of personally telling my papa on his birthday that i was expecting his 1st grand baby.the most perfect setting for such wonderful news. el y yo. solos en la playa. sharing the excitement with the familia was icing on the cake.

oh and not to mention finally getting a full taste of carnavales al estilo panameno.

-we celebrated our very 1st mother's and father's days as real parents. in or out of the womb, that baby is just as alive so we basked in the bliss of parenthood! my "you must relax" gifts (see mother's day post)
kneaders: dads eat free on sat before fathers day... aka my sweetums in heaven face our for real daddy's day breakfast. my crepe attempt. semi success. made and shared thiswith love

-we moved out of the Driessen's basement apartment and into
our own little place

with a front and back yard, micah's own little room, AND i had the option of painting my very own red door! i decided instead to hang my red wreath and call it good. i made up my mind about little man's nursery color scheme and patterns. and...sigh... it was a month filled with KSL finds, great deals and lots and lots of assembling new furniture;) i now consider myself a pro shelf assembler thank you very much.

-this girl and i became besties.

miss hilary. yes---twin girlies , 4 weeks apart from my little guy. we kept each other sane and alive ( literally w/ our stashes of go
odies every 2-3 hours) with our desks next to each other it made conversations and reassurances about all that was going on w/ our pregnant selves that much easier. i basically almost went bazerk the day she left. and ... ready for this: her beautiful ladies were born just two days apart from mr. micah-man ! betrothed? id say so myself.

-we celebrated my boos 29th bday with a bang!
1st a surprise joint b-day celebration w/ his brother from another mother: mr. abraham thomas

(believe it or not they were born on the same date of the same year--- i know right?! how many people can say that?!)

and 2ndly we took a well needed road trip that night (literally) to Seattle to visit our most favorite peeps in the world! jen and rahul!

it.was.bomb.
not to mention my superman drove all 24 hours minus my pansy-ish 2 hours there and back!

-we have the greatest friends anyone could ever ask for! they threw us the bombest baby shower ever!

the loot:

-went on lots and LOTS of hikes to help the little guy come:
one of my favs was this one.

they got me good!

Along w/ the AMAZING hermanas del barrio: they threw us a SURPRISE baby shower!
thank you Marisol ! y tia Luci!
in.olvidable.

-after a year and a half of working as an admissions consultant at Stevens-Henager College i decided it was time to move onto the next season in my life. great skills learned, memories made, and friendships that will hold a dear place in my heart. a leap of faith yes. but with confidence and assurance we leap.
greatest boss ever.

- and lastly, supported and loved great friends as they embarked on grand adventures. celebrated motherhood. we love you helen.thank you christi for allowing us the privilage of witnessing your sacred moment. christi's mormon tabernacle choir setting apart. beautiful.
